Grand Challenges
Grand Challenges
Three fronts. One system.
Each Grand Challenge runs concrete Swiss demonstrators with measurable cohorts and replicable financial architectures. These are not aspirational statements — they are operational programmes designed to prove that prevention, regeneration and circularity can be financed at scale.
Lifespan Wellbeing
From sickcare to prevention — at the cohort scale that proves it.
Swiss healthcare spends 12.6% of GDP. The mental-health gap widens. SIPI builds the federated data and shared-savings structures to make prevention finance work.
Regenerative Nutrition
Food that sustains the health Switzerland prides itself on.
40% of Swiss food is imported. Producers carry the climate cost; eaters carry the price. SIPI builds true-cost accounting, soil intelligence, and procurement reform.
Circular Economy
From world-class craft to a shared circular pathway.
Swiss material circularity is ~7%; the 2035 target is three-times higher. SIPI co-designs Digital Product Passports, EPR architecture, and industrial symbiosis pilots.
The Grand Challenges are not siloed. Each demonstrator feeds evidence into the PROSPER Compass, draws on the same leverage-point infrastructure (federated data, foresight, policy translation, shared platforms), and is designed to attract patient capital through Net-Positive Finance pathways. Together, they form a coordinated architecture for Switzerland’s regenerative transition.

Open briefHow they connect
Shared infrastructure. Federated data.
All three Grand Challenges share the same underlying leverage points: Data Commons, Foresight, Policy, and Infrastructure. Each demonstrator produces reusable templates and evaluation protocols.
Data Commons
Federated intelligence.
Privacy-preserving data architectures connecting health, environment and economic signals across cantons and operators. The infrastructure under every Grand Challenge.
Policy
Evidence to action.
Translating PROSPER findings into legislative drafting, cantonal pilots and federal-level policy levers. Editorial-independent.
Infrastructure
Shared platforms.
Open contract templates, replicable demonstrator designs, and the scaffolding that lets Swiss actors coordinate without rebuilding the wheel.
Engagement pathways
How to engage.
Employers, insurers, cantonal authorities, family offices, foundations and institutional investors: each Grand Challenge has specific engagement structures.
Employers & Insurers
Co-design demonstrators.
Join a cohort pilot (Lifespan Wellbeing), participate in procurement reform (Regenerative Nutrition), or co-develop circular pathways (Circular Economy).
Family Offices & Foundations
Catalytic capital.
Patient capital, board-level access, full reporting on outcomes via the PROSPER Compass. Seed the structures before institutional capital follows.
Cantonal & Federal Authorities
Policy co-design.
SIPI provides the federated-data and evaluation scaffolding for pilot programmes. Evidence-based briefings and draft legal architecture.
