Each Grand Challenge demonstrator produces reusable infrastructure: shared-savings contract templates, EPD interoperability schemas, evaluation protocol documents. Published openly under CC BY-SA 4.0.
SIPI’s infrastructure work addresses a persistent coordination failure: Swiss actors — cantonal health offices, insurers, watchmakers, food producers — repeatedly design similar structures in isolation. The result is duplicated effort, incompatible schemas, and missed opportunities for cross-sector learning.
The Infrastructure leverage point inverts this pattern. Every demonstrator is required to publish its core architecture as open templates. Shared-savings contracts become replicable legal frameworks. Digital Product Passport schemas become sector-wide standards. Evaluation protocols become cross-Challenge methodologies.
Active templates
Current infrastructure outputs include shared-savings contract templates for health demonstrators, EPD interoperability schemas for cantonal health data coordination, Digital Product Passport schemas piloted in the watchmaking sector, and evaluation protocol documents applied across all three Grand Challenges.
All templates are published with each demonstrator’s evaluation cycle. The repository operates under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0, ensuring that derivative work remains open and that Swiss actors can adapt, refine and redistribute without legal friction.
This is not infrastructure as technology. It is infrastructure as institutional scaffolding: the legal, methodological and coordination architecture that lets Swiss actors build on each other’s work rather than starting from scratch.
