The PROSPER Compass Framework V1.6 is now published. Its architecture — seven pillars, three assessment levels, three co-equal uses and no composite score — was ratified on 1 September 2026 by a thirteen-expert panel; the V1.6 text and its indicator registry were ratified at ratification point 2 on 11 September 2026. The Compass reads prosperity through seven interconnected pillars — from Purpose & Wellbeing to Resilient Economies — and asks one guiding question: are our choices strengthening the conditions that enable people, communities, businesses and ecosystems to thrive over the long term? Progress on one pillar is never allowed to offset a breach on another: the framework is deliberately non-compensatory, anchored in a net-positive principle.
V1.6 carries 116 indicators — 37 enterprise, 38 regional (cantonal), 41 national — held in Indicator Registry v0.7, the framework’s single source of truth. The set is built Swiss-first: Federal Statistical Office and MONET 2030 series, Cercle Indicateurs at cantonal level, and VSME/ESRS-aligned disclosures at enterprise level. New entries include cantonal income inequality (Gini, tax register), the net food self-sufficiency rate, the gender underemployment gap and the unemployment-rate gap by migration status. The measurement tool is now named: the PROSPER Compass Diagnostic, with published coverage gates and a minimum-viable-pillar rule, so a thin profile is reported as partial rather than scored.
An open call for contributions
A prosperity compass is only as strong as the community that builds it. With V1.6 published, SIPI invites researchers, practitioners, data owners and organisations to help shape what comes next:
- Pilot the Diagnostic (January–March 2027). SMEs, large enterprises and public-sector bodies can test the PROSPER Compass Diagnostic on their own data and shape its calibration.
- Contribute data. Several watch-list constructs — from nature connectedness to the insurability of climate risks — are waiting for a recurring Swiss series. If you own or know such data, we want to hear from you.
- Co-develop the methodology. Indicator selection, scoring anchors and the impact-valuation layer are developed openly with expert input.
- Review the languages. Native French, German and Italian readers can help align the 116 indicator labels with official statistical terminology.
- Add your voice. The Rethinking Prosperity: Shared Narratives for 2040 process gathers what residents and organisations actually want from prosperity — feeding the publication expected in February/March 2027.
